You can leave part of your estate for the care of aging relatives or friends by choosing to leave your assets "in trust" for that person in your Custom Will or Living Trust plan.
You can leave specific assets to the person in the Specific Distribution section by selecting to leave the distribution to either:
- "An individual either immediately or with restrictions" so someone can manage the assets for them
- "Special needs individual to protect government benefits for that individual" in a way that will help keep them from losing their government benefits
Use MyAdvocate to help someone you are providing care for have an up-to-date plan in place. As long as they meet their states requirements to sign a will, trust, or Power of Attorney, you can potentially support them in building their plan online with their explicit choices and your hands at the keyboard. It's important that they see all the diagrams and documents so they know what is being created.
